We were kindly invited by Sound City to their Liverpool offices where Rosanne provided a very warm welcome. The students learnt about its conception in 2008 which coincided with the Capital of Culture Year and it’s many aims including providing emerging talent with an opportunity to perform and develop their careers.
The students learnt about the many different roles in the industry and what they entail from booking acts to managing finances to securing event sponsorship . But it wasn’t just the theory, they were kindly presented with the opportunity to Q&A a variety of staff about their roles and careers routes into the profession.
There were some strong messages about not everyone knowing what they originally wanted to do careerwise but, by building up networks and volunteering at events they gained an insight into the industry and a foothold on a job.
This was a very stimulating entertaining morning that left the students with lots to think about and plans to make!
