Week beginning 22/01/18
Anne Frank
Our Year 10 student Hannah Keegan produced an outstanding performance in the play Anne Frank at SPACE Arts Centre, Bootle on Wednesday 24th January. A number of our Year 8 students who attended were moved to tears by her dramatic portrayal of such a harrowing story. The Year 8 students attended as the theme linked with their multicultural and diversity studies in PSHE. Mrs Carey accompanied the trip and was not only in awe of Hannah’s performance but impressed by the maturity exhibited by our students.
Sefton Schools X-country
Fortunately the sun shone upon our runners after a very heavy downfall which enabled our Year 7-9 cross country runners to produce some magnificent performances in the Sefton Schools Cross Country League.
Multiculturalism & Diversity
In society told we benefit from a rich diversity of cultural influences that enhance and enrich our community. In PSHE lessons the Year 8 students have been studying and researching these issues and were able to benefit from additional workshops on this theme delivered by ‘Positive Futures’ . The students faced some challenging questions and undertook a number of group activities in order to develop a greater understanding of these issues.
Savio host University of Cambridge
High achieving Year 11 students from Savio and the surrounding area attended a workshop led by Cambridge University. The school were very happy to host this event as we have a number of aspirational students who are planning for their future and university is one of the possibilities they are exploring. The students learnt about the different opportunities available, how to prepare by making the right A Level choices and they were challenged to break the stereotypes applied to Oxbridge students. This interesting and informative workshop enabled our student’s time to start thinking about their futures as they are currently much focussed upon their GCSE studies.
