News: Years 7 & 8 Tenner Challenge (15th June 2017)

Savio is creating entrepreneurs of the future!

On Thursday 15th June, Young Enterprise delivered inspiring workshops to Year 7 & 8 pupils about creating your own business and how people become entrepreneurs. There was some bartering in class as jewellery was created and sold with one group exceeding £500!

Now, the Tenner challenge has been launched at Savio Salesian College. It provides a highly interactive way for students to develop key skills including creativity, resilience, and problem solving, using real money to take calculated risks in business. Our Students are pledged £10 and have one week to set up a business – coming up with an idea of a product or service they can sell and gain first-hand experience of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur.

Over the next week, cars will be cleaned, cakes and ice creams will be sold, and many other interesting enterprising ideas will be presented by our students. All profits will go to charity. On Friday 23rd June there will then be a 'Dragons Den' style presentation where the students will present their company and share the lessons they have learnt about the world of business and being an entrepreneur.
