Year 10 this week have been making Baked Alaska and continuing their favourite task of plating up their dishes restaurant style?
So what is a Baked Alaska?
Baked Alaska is a cake and ice cream dessert topped with caramelised meringue. Pupils used a kitchen blow torch to caramelise the meringue rather than baking it. So how does the ice cream not melt? The meringue insulates it from the heat.
Which is your favourite?
